Two female Bull Mastiff x Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Not related other than that they are both my babies (I say babies, they're six stone each).
They're the loves of my life and if you met them you would want them. Therefore this is a (clearly biased) massive recommendation for that type of dog.

fourteen year old westie called bruce. lovely friendly dogs but because of their colour, they do pick up a lot of allergies and skin problems as they get older

Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Amazing dogs, will surprise you. One of only 2 recommended by the KC as good with children, they are known as the Nanny Dog.
Not the devil dog as portrayed by the media. Once it was the German Shepherds, then it was the Doberman, then the Rottweiller. Currently, it the Staffies turn to be the demon dog, but only because it's the choice of little scrote drug dealers who think they've got a vicious pit pull to protect them. Truth is they haven't, my staffie would lick a burglar to death rather than try and bite him. That's why they are being abandoned in droves, because they are not the fierce dogs certain people buy them for.
Why do you think they are never used as guard dogs?
Get one, you might be surprised. You will not regret it.

Never really come across a bad breed or a bad dog for that matter, they love you and are loyal no matter what.
Just decide what you want and were you live, you dont want a German Shepard in a one bedroom flat, decide if you want a big or small breed, how much exorcise do you want etc etc.
But, above all go to the dogs home to get one, dont pay a cunt of a breeder, the rescues dogs are just as good but may not be pedegee, they are fully checked and you get an honest opinion rather than a salesmens, and of course your saving a life....

I've got a working springer spaniel, intelligent and and so loyal.
It takes about an hour to train her to pick up any particular scent, she will find golf balls, tennis balls and has even sniffed out where my boy stashes his dope in the garage
They are a brilliant dog, and never lose that puppy enthusiasm
They need a lot of exercise
